Your Advocates In Deportation Proceedings

Deportation is a unique and complex type of legal proceeding. If you have been targeted for deportation or a loved one is currently being detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), you need to talk to an immigration lawyer right away.

Our deportation defense attorneys at Miley & Brown in Dallas, Texas, have helped many clients avoid removal from the country using a number of different strategies. Contact us to discuss how we can help you respond to deportation proceedings.

Understanding How Deportation Begins

Undocumented immigrants, temporary visa holders, and green card holders are all subject to deportation from the United States under a variety of different circumstances. If a removal proceeding has been started against you, you are entitled to have a hearing and to be represented by a lawyer.

Deportation proceedings are most often initiated when someone is arrested for a crime and his or her case is turned over to the immigration service. Even green card holders can be deported if they commit a serious crime.

There are a number of other reasons why the government may be trying to deport you. If you do not have a visa or green card, or if your visa has expired, you can be deported on the basis of your status alone.

Evaluating Your Deportation Defense Options

If you have been targeted for deportation, you have several options. Our defense lawyers can represent you at the deportation proceeding and, if necessary, appeal your case to the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Fifth Circuit U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

If you are afraid to be sent back to your home country because of fear of persecution, you may be eligible for asylum. There are also forms of relief against deportation available for people from certain countries that are designated as war zones or natural disaster areas.
