Michael Canton graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. Prior to attending law school, he worked as a financial analyst for a multimillion-dollar, real estate, development firm. Mr. Canton earned his Juris Doctor from Texas Wesleyan School of Law in May 2005. He has been a member of the State Bar of Texas since April 2006.

Michael Canton’s interest in Immigration and Nationality law began at a very early age; he is the son of a naturalized U.S. citizen mother. That early interest developed into a passion over the course of his advocating for hundreds of immigrants. He has extensive experience in removal proceedings, which he gained while heading the litigation department at his prior law firm. He has in-depth knowledge regarding all forms of relief from removal. In addition, he has practiced in the Immigration and Nationality law areas of adjustment of status, asylum, immigrant and nonimmigrant visa processing and naturalization. Mr. Canton has practiced in the Executive Office for Immigration Review, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and he is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Canton was selected as a “Texas Rising Star” in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 by Super Lawyers. He is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association previously serving as a liaison between the association, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
